In Summer Semester 2020, MEAS is offering the following seminar in English language:

Selected Topics in Vehicle and Power Electronics Research

This research seminar aims to investigate emerging and selected topics in vehicle and power electronics. It is particularly designed for students who are interested in EV technology but only have background knowledge on power electronics and electric circuit theory. In this research seminar, students will learn the fundamentals of EV chargers, focus on one of the four topics in the EV area, and simulate EV chargers through simulation software. Finally, students will be evaluated through their research reports.

Topics:
1) EV Chargers with Grid-Supportive Services
2) Topologies of EV Chargers
3) Modular power conversion systems
4) Battery-Integrated EV Chargers

 

Upon successful completion of the seminar, students will be able to

1) understand the fundamentals of EVs and state-of-the art EV chargers
2) familiar with a topic in the area of EV chargers
3) grasp the process and methodology of literature review
4) criticize EV chargers in terms of decisive design parameters
5) simulate one or several typical EV charger circuits
6) analyze simulation results in a logical and organized manner
7) write independently a research report on the chosen topic
8) perform scientific presentations in an appealing style and ask relevant questions
9) collaborate interactively with other students
10) monitor one’s progress and assess one’s performance
11) improve the use of English

 

Requirements:

Necessary entrance requirement to the seminar is successful attendance of Power Electronics.
