The institute deals with the design and the application of intelligent, environment-aware systems und their embodiment by integrated, adaptive electronics and sensors. In particular, bio-inspiration is exploited for that aim. A major focus of the research is on design automation of such systems. The institute contributes the courses on basics of electronics and circuits as well as measurement, instrumentation and sensors to the curriculum. In advanced courses, the design of integrated analog and mixed-signal circuits and integrated sensor systems as well as sensor signal processing, intelligent system design with Machine-Learning, and Neurocomputing are taught.
