Still on the Road to Success

In the current ranking of WirtschaftsWoche the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Kaiserslautern has significantly improved in comparison with the previous year and is now on an excellent 7th position.

The ranking of WirtschaftsWoche deliberately focusses on practice relevance. Beginning of the year, 7000 personnel consultants of Germany's largest companies were questioned - since they decide from which university graduates are preferably employed.

State of teaching

Students award the best lectures as well as the highest failure rate, the latter by the so called "Rusty Saw".

Already for decades - long before the introduction of the university evaluation system - the student representatives have used to accomplish a survey on the situation of teaching which has been contributing to its preservation and amelioration.

At the end of each semester the results are published during a little ceremony called the "Rusty Saw".

We congratulate the awardees of the winter term 2011/2012:

Best lecture course: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Kunz

Best exercise course: Dr.-Ing. Raphael Guerra

Prof. Kunz stays!

We are very glad that Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Wolfgang Kunz will not accept the offer of a W3-professorship at TU Darmstadt, but remain at TU Kaiserslautern in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

New degree program Media and Communication...

Starting with the summer semester 2012, the University of Kaiserslautern offers the new bachelor degree program Media and Communication Technology (MKT). Besides the basics in mathematics, physics and electrical engineering there are also creative workshops such as audio and video production parts of the program.      In addition, the study covers a wide range of other courses, like 3D visualization, mobile communications, digital television, media formats and design to name but a few. Employers for MKT engineers are mainly companies of the media and communications industry, e.g. film, television and recording studios, IT companies or manufacturers of studio equipment.

Graduates of the bachelor program can continue their study with the follow-up master's program MKT. The degree programs can be started in the winter as well as the summer semester without numerus clausus and tuition fees.
